Quick Update

I have about 10 minutes for a quick update while the kiddos sleep and before dinner is finished, so I thought I would take this opportunity to do so. It has only been 12 days since Lincoln was born, but we are already starting to get settled into being parents of two!

I have to say that the Lord answered our prayers and gave us such a GREAT baby. Lincoln is SO good, rarely cries, and seems really mellow when he’s awake. He’s already only waking up once a night to nurse. He usually goes to sleep around 10:30pm, wakes up at 2:30am to eat, then sleeps until about 7am. (I PRAY this continues until he sleeps the whole night :)!) What a complete 180 from when Riley was a newborn!!
Daddy and his kids after Lincoln’s first sponge bath!

He’s been to the doctor a couple of times and has gained all of his weight back already! He only lost about 7 ounces in the hospital so it didn’t take too long. You know what’s depressing about him weighing so much at birth? The fact that he’s already growing out of “newborn” diapers. After we finish this pack we’re moving up to size 1. I hope I can exchange the other 12 “newborn” packs that I’ve got :)!!

I had to take him to the doctor’s office the other day because his eyes were really “goopy” and would get crusted shut…kinda gross I know. Anyways, he has eye drops because he has blocked tear ducts. (Riley was on eye drops until she was a few months old because of the same problem–hopefully it won’t take that long for his to fully develop.)
I feel like the past week all I’ve done are take the babies to the doctor. I have literally been there 6 times in the past week for at least one of them! Riley had to go today because she woke up last night throwing up and running a really high temperature (almost 103). Poor little thing was up ALL night, literally. Ty had to get up at 4 for work and be there at 5 and I was up with Lincoln to feed him, so between both of us I don’t think we got more than 30 minutes of sleep, combined! Thankfully my mom came over for a little while today so I was able to at least take a shower. Riley wouldn’t be put down all day so I couldn’t get anything done; these are the days that I am expecially thankful that we live so close to my mom! πŸ™‚
Riley is doing great with him–constantly kissing and hugging him. She loves helping me change his diaper, but gets very upset when he cries when I change him. She is constantly giving him his “nipper” (aka. pacifier) when it falls out of his mouth. I’m so thankful she’s taking so well to him otherwise my life would be much more difficult.

She was helping me do the laundry. When I turned my back for a second and looked back this is where I found her. πŸ™‚

  2. Shelby, Just a quick tip on the clogged tear ducts. Both of my kids had them (although I never had to use eye drops) but with Sadie, my friend told me of a great home remedy! Breast milk….i know it sounds weird, but it works with everyone i know who has tried it. Just put a drop or two into their eye near their tear duct each time you nurse for just a few days and it will clear up….and no, it doesn\’t hurt them at all. They don\’t even notice it….another thing breast milk is great for!! Good luck

  6. How are Lincoln\’s tear ducts doing? I am going through the same thing with my new baby boy Jonathan. Only my doctor didn\’t give me any eye drops. She said you have to let it run its course and if it doesn\’t get better by the time he is 1, then he will have to see an eye doctor.
