Weddings and more weddings…

August 2nd was my childhood best friend’s wedding in Indiana. Katherine and I have known each other for more than 20 years. We were neighbors, went to the same church, the same school, worked together throughout high school and college and were inseparable as kids. We got along so well; we were both very stubborn and bossed each other around constantly. We spent summers making homemade milkshakes, popping popcorn and soaking it in butter, diving for “swords” in the lake, borrowing each other’s clothes and most importantly fighting :)! She is someone who no matter how much time goes by without us talking we can always pick up right where we left off. She is a dear friend and I pray that we remain in touch!! Her husband, Pat, and I went to school together also. Actually, I must admit Pat and I did “go out” when we were in 6th grade. So I like to tell her she was second best :)!
Katherine and Pat have been together for, I think, 9 years. When they finally decided to get married, I was honored when she asked me to be in their wedding. I am so happy for them and know that their relationship will continue to grow. They will be living in N. Carolina where Pat is stationed and Katherine will be attending Grad. school.
Anyways, we went home on Thursday and stayed with my Dad. My sister, Kasey, was going to be home for one more day so I wanted to see her as much as I could so we went home early. We went to the Point O’ Woods Country Club and hung out at the pool all day and then ate dinner pool side with Kasey, Corey, my Dad, Jamie, McKenna, Reagan, G&G,Ty and I and the kids. We had a great time and Riley now loves the water and is getting pretty daring. Kasey and Corey left Friday early morning, I hope it doesn’t take another entire year for us to see them again. I miss having her around and seeing her often. Plus, all day Riley goes around saying “Kasey, hold”. She, too, loved seeing Kasey and misses her already.

Kase and Core holding the kids. Riley usually cries when Corey even gets close to her, so this was a huge deal that she let him hold her!

Kasey usually gives these stupid fake hugs and I hate it so I made her give me a really tight squeeze to make her feel uncomfortable :)! Love my sister!

Friday we had the rehearsal and the rehearsal dinner in South Bend. All went well and the dinner was delicious. Katherine was meticulous about the order of events and the schedule, and thankfully everything went according as planned. We drove home that night and stayed at my Grandparent’s house where Riley was sound asleep. We decided not to take her to the rehearsal/wedding because she can’t sit still for more than two seconds, so my Dad and Jamie watched her those two nights. We were thankful!

8:00 am the next morning came too quickly. I was up and showered and ready to get my hair done. Then I met Katherine at her house and rode with her and her sister Lauren to the church to get ready for the wedding. The wedding began at 4:30 on the dot and it was a beautiful military wedding. Unfortunately I couldn’t see a thing because I am short and was at the back of the “bridesmaid line” (it went from tallest to shortest) but I heard it all and I know the commitment they made to each other will last a lifetime! Pictures were before and afterwards. Then to the reception. It was probably one of the most beautiful receptions I have ever been to. It was at the Century Center in South Bend, IN over looking the river and it was decorated beautifully. The flowers were gorgeous, the chair covers made it look elegant and the raspberry chicken was delicious! We called it a night early, it had been a really long weekend and we needed to get Lincoln to bed. Thankfully we remembered his PJ’s and put him right to bed when we got home. All in all, we had a great weekend, spending time with family and friends.

The beautiful couple!
