New Years Resolution in September???

Better late than never, right? Well, here it goes, 9 months into the year and I’m getting organized!! Starting this week I’m beginning “Menu Plan Monday” and having a weekly cleaning schedule among other things. We’ll see how it goes. It is my attempt to getting more organized and saving $$ at the same time. “Menu Plan Monday” I found through a site and it links together all the blogs that are apart of it and I can view other weekly meals from fellow bloggers. So, instead of going to the store and buying anything and everything that looks good I’ll be buying what I need for dinners the ENTIRE week.
I’ve always done something like this, writing down what I’m going to make all week, but rarely do I stick to it. I hoping this will help keep me more accountable. Ty’s also hoping that it cuts down on me saying “OH SHOOT, Ty can you run to Meijer and get… please!” 5 times/ week. Also by making a menu I can use the weekly ads and make my menu around what’s on sale that week. It will also eliminate fast-food for the most part. I’ll try to make enough for leftovers (which Ty loves) for his lunch every day for work so he won’t have to go out to eat (which he hates fast-food). I will occasionally “link” recipes to the menu so if something sounds good that we’re having you can look up the recipe and use it too. I’m ALWAYS looking for new and EASY recipes. so if you have any great recipes or recipe sites that you have and want to share PLEASE let me know!!!

  1. That\’s a great idea! We always get home from work and by the time we\’re settled it\’s 6pm and we\’re wondering what\’s for dinner. It\’d be such a smart idea to plan it out and maybe we won\’t take another 1/2 hour figuring out what to make! Brilliant!

  2. Yay! I love that you\’re doing this — I might have to post on this also! In an effort to save money at the grocery, I started planning our weekly meals last year after Tanner was born. I write down all the ingredients that I need, check to see what I already have, go through my coupon stash, and then really try to stick JUST to those things when I go to the store. I think it\’s really helped us save!!Good luck!:) Rachel
