2 Years Old!!

On Tuesday, September 23 Riley turned 2!!! I can’t believe how time has flown by, where did my little Riley go? She’s all grown up, at least she thinks so. Riley brings so much joy to my life and makes my heart smile. She has always been my little sidekick, even if she is starting to become “Daddy’s little girl”. She has the cutest little personality and has become quite independent. She’s starting to talk quite a bit now and her favorite words are “No” and “Elmo”. Although, I liked it better when she didn’t know how to say “No”.

Her personality seems to emerge more and more each day. She is the sweetest little thing, but fairly shy and can take a long time to warm up to most people. She is obsessed with shoes, taking them off (even when we’re in the car for 2 seconds) and wearing one around the house. Yes, she only wears one and it’s always on the wrong foot. She knows her animals and all the sounds they make. She can count all by herself to 5 and knows all her body parts. She can’t handle being tickled, especially in the neck (she must take after me), and her laugh is contagious.

She has always been a tiny little thing, weighing only 15 lbs. 14 oz. at 1 year old. (Lincoln at 4 months almost passed her up) Her hair is so thin a hair bow won’t even stay in it–and if they will she yanks them right out. She loves having her nails painted and especially loves doing them herself (thanks, Kasey) She also has the longest legs I’ve ever seen on a 2 year old.

Riley hates having her diaper changed but refuses to go on the “big girl potty”. She goes to bed with 3 babies, 1 Elmo, 2 stuffed animals, and a blanket and throws them all out except for her babies and blanket. (But refuses to go to bed without the others in her crib with her) She is scared by the vacuum and when Ty has shaving cream on his face. She is a wanderer, she will go as far as she can until you tell her to come back. Every time we walk in or out of our apt. building she has to pick up a rock and take it with her.

She loves her little brother and is always helping with him. Whether she is getting me a diaper or a towel to clean up spit up or shoving his nipper in his mouth, she is always helping. She’s such a little momma right now.

We are so thankful for the 2 years of Riley’s life that we have been blessed with. We hope and pray that we can be examples of Christ to her and that she grows up loving the Lord. Her next year will go by even quicker, that I am sure of and we will do or best to cherish every moment we have with our little one–as everyone says, “they’re only little once”.

Update: Riley had her 2 year check up and she weighs 24 lbs 8 oz and 32.5 inches. Her projected adult height is 5 ft. 5 in
