Prayer request for Lincoln

I have mentioned it before but Lincoln has been sleeping horribly lately and has been having a lot of ear infections. Well, when we went to my Dad’s this past weekend Lincoln got sick again. When we got back I took him to see the doctor and sure enough he had another ear infection, actually a double ear infection. Poor Lincoln has had 5 separate ear infections in 6 weeks and has been on 5 different antibiotics within those weeks as well. Anyways, to make a LONG story short, we’ve got an appointment with the ENT doctor because they think Lincoln may need tubes in his ears. They are afraid if we don’t do something about it quickly it may affect his speech development because he may not be able to hear very well. When they told me that and what the tubes entailed I just started crying…I can’t imagine having my poor little baby going through all of that. But, I do realize it will help him in the long run. So just pray that his ears will heal and he’ll stop having infections and also for the doctors that they’ll make the right decisions. (Also, that I can get some sleep, because he hasn’t been sleeping well AT ALL the last 2 months and I’m starting to get worn down!)

  1. I know a few families that have gone through this- while it is so hard to deal with, all of them were SO much better off after tubes were put in. Keep up the positive thinking- it will all work out in the long run!

  2. I will say a prayer for Lincoln.I have had a terrible week since after Christmas. Joey has his exploritory surgery this Thursday. I was hit by a car on New Years Eve coming out of a restaurant just before 3 pm. But I am greatful my children wanted to go with their daddy or else I believe they would be dead. My legs are not broken, but badly bruised and I have to go to a lawyer and orthopeadic doctor to get more testing on Wednesday.

  3. I\’ll be praying for Lincoln and, although it may not make you feel better, my brother had tubes put in his ears when he was Lincoln\’s age and he did just fine! He never had any problems with them, he speaks/hears fine, nothing\’s wrong at all! 🙂 But we\’ll be praying that the doctor\’s make the right decision and that you both will get sleep!

  4. Hi Shelby… My prayers are with your little guy. I can tell you that my son has had 4 sets of tubes, and the surgery is fast, simple, and Adam was back to normal by noon. The one suggestion I would make is to make sure you schedule the surgery as early as possible. Be the first ones, if possible. We would hold Adam\’s hand when they put him under and we would walk to the waiting room get a cup of coffee and we were called back to recovery before we could finish our cup. The changes in Adam after the tubes were put in were remarkable. At 2 years old, he wasn\’t speaking a word, and after the tubes, he went to speaking paragraphs. You don\’t realize how much these ear infections hold them up. This will help your little guy, and you will be so glad you did it. Call me if you need to talk, Jamie knows my number. Take Care!
