Riley’s 1st haircut

It was a big day for Riley today. It was her FIRST haircut. That’s right folks, she’s 2 1/2 and never had her hair cut. She’s got the finest hair and lets just say it doesn’t grow very fast. However, it had started to become unmanageable lately so I knew it was time. I was VERY unsure of how well it would go, especially because I had to wake her up from her nap. I was afraid she’d see the scissors and flip out. But, she did the complete opposite! She did SO well and was so proud of her new do.

I took her to the salon/spa that I go to and my hairdresser, Sarah, did her hair too. At one point during the haircut Sarah asked her what she was doing today and Riley said “Hmmm…let me think…” (like she’s got so much going on) But, it was so grown up of her, actually made me sad that my little girl is getting older and bigger.
So here are a few (I think I took 200 pictures within the 10 minutes the haircut took :)) pictures from this monumental day :).
Don’t mind her fat lip, poor thing dropped a toy on her lip yesterday when she was suppose to be “sleeping”!

Here are the before and afters:

Also, I do realize that it doesn’t look much different (at all), but it desperately needed to be trimmed! I would have done it myself, but she just had to have the “whole experience”.

  1. awwww. even an adult can\’t go much more than 2 years without a cut too! I wonder how Kaitlyn\’s hair will grow in too. I\’m glad that Riley was good!! 🙂

  2. Riley looks so cute! I love it! Good for you to take here to a salon. I have my hubby cute my boys hair at home, but if I had a girl I would so be doing what your did. It\’s just a girlie thing. Joey cried so hard when we used to take him to cartoon cuts. So we stopped that and with Daddy doing it, he\’s fine.

  3. Congrats Riley! We got Hailey\’s done at Meijer a couple months ago and now everytime we go there she asks to get it cut again! It\’s funny that when we expect a meltdown, they\’re the opposite!
