Riley’s First Sleepover

This past weekend Riley had her first ever sleepover with her best friend, Hailey. Nich and Jennie’s anniversary was that Thursday and so we offered to watch Hailey so they could go on an anniversary date. Hailey’s birthday party was on Sunday so we decided to take her for the evening Saturday and keep her over night and take her with us to her birthday party Sunday. The girls had a blast and it was long overdue that they got together. Saturday evening they ate dinner, played dress-up, and played with playdoh.

The night ended and it was time for the little ones to go to sleep. However, they had something else in mind. Lincoln, who normally goes to sleep without a flight, took a late nap and therefore didn’t want to go down at the normal 7:30. We decided to let the girls play until 8:15 and then put them to bed at 8:30. Well, Lincoln wasn’t asleep yet and since we only have two rooms we put the girls in Riley’s bed together. That didn’t work to say the least. So, we got Lincoln up let him play (until 9:00) and put Riley in her bed and Hailey in ours. Riley was SO overtired that she threw the biggest fit until almost 10:00 and Hailey was the perfect one who lay down and and fell fast asleep. Then when I knew Lincoln would be tired enough to not cry and just fall asleep I put him in his crib (yes…he’s still in our room). He did and we thought it was smooth sailing for the rest of the night. Our intention was to move Hailey to the air mattress in Riley’s room when we went to bed.

10:30 rolled around and all of a sudden Lincoln woke up…what the heck, seriously??! Good thing Hailey is a sound sleeper. We picked him up, brought him into the living room and blew up the air mattress and moved Hailey into Riley’s room and put Lincoln back in his crib. Ty was reformatting our new computer and fell asleep on the couch. About 1am Riley woke up, came into our room and slept with me in our bed. Hailey woke up around 2:30 and Ty got up this time (from the couch) and rocked her back to sleep and put her back onto the air mattress and he layed down on Riley’s bed because Riley was in his spot in our room. Riley woke up around 5:30 and decided she was too excited to sleep so she got up, but decided she was still tired so I found her sleeping half under our bed, half under the night stand…

They were all up by 7:30. My kids, who never sleep in, were up by 7 and Hailey slept until 7:30.
No matter how sleep deprived we all were in the morning the girls had so much fun and hopefully we can do it again soon :).

This pretty much sums the two girls up: Hailey is relaxed and calm; Riley is hyper and NEVER stops. 🙂
