"Let Go"

Two words I never knew would change our lives so drastically! Ty heard those two words on Thursday from his boss at work. He, along with his entire department and most of the people in the Operations department, had been let go. Just like that. He went to work one day, went about his normal schedule, then out of the blue got called back to his boss’s office, was told they were doing major reorganizing in his company and that his position had been terminated.

I have to be honest, I never thought we’d be in this position…ever. Ty is a very hard worker, he has a great education, and people love working with him because he’s such a positive person! It wasn’t his fault that he was let go, but the possibility of being “let go” just never occurred to us. He was with a good company who seemed to be doing well.
So, here we are, with a brand new baby (and two other little ones), in WV with no family, plenty of bills, and now no income. Most people would be freaking out right now and I’m not saying that we aren’t but we are doing our best to trust in the Lord and lean on Him during this time. My sister sent me this verse which has really stuck with me and each time I start getting upset, down or worried about how we’re going to make ends meet I think of it:

Matthew 6:25-27
25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?
26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?
27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

I know God has a plan for us and our family and He gave us the opportunity to move down here for a reason. Now, He has something bigger and better in store for us. I am so proud of the way Ty has handled the situation. Last night Ty’s co-worker (who used to be his boss when we first moved down here, she hired hm) and her husband stopped over for a few minutes. She said that one of the reasons she hired him to begin with was because he subtly witnessed to all of them during his interview (she is a very nice, Christian woman). She also said that through his year working with his company she saw Ty witness to many co-workers and that he had gotten many of them interested in finding out more about God. Ty told her that then everything we did, moving down here away from family and friends and now getting laid off, was now worth it. Maybe that’s why God opened the door for us to move here. Maybe it was for Ty to impact his co-workers lives. Maybe it was to lead others to the Lord! I am proud of my husband and know God will provide and protect us!

We’re praying for a new job to come our way quickly, but until then we are planning on moving back to Michigan at the end of the month (right after Christmas). We moved down here for his job and now that he no longer has it, there’s no reason to stay. 5 moves, in 5 years–yikes! I’ve been hoping we would move closer to home, so I’m glad we are, just not under these circumstances!

  1. So sorry to hear this, but I know that God is holding you and has something incredible in store for you guys! Praying that you feel peace during this transition time and that He gives you patience, clarity, and strength to make the decisions that will be coming your way. Praying especially for Ty-that he finds the job of his dreams. If you have any interest in moving to Nashville, let me know, we can pass along his resume!
